Optimizing the gluing process of partition walls.

Introduction.

Right upon arrival at TIG Acoustics in Almelo, you’re immediately positively surprised. Instead of stepping into the industrial building you might expect, you enter a fully renovated coach house. A cheerful dog greets you right away—that takes a moment to adjust. Inside the coach house, there’s a large desk and a cozy seating area where we’re invited to sit down. Honestly, who wouldn’t want to work like this? During the tour, we see another shared passion of the owners and colleagues: motorcycles and parts for classic racing bikes. The fun team at TIG could easily star in a Discovery Channel show. In short, a fun and inspiring company to collaborate with.

TIG Acoustics specializes in room acoustics. They develop tailor-made solutions for noise reduction in offices, schools, and public spaces.

The question of TIG.

TIG approached us with a specific challenge: how can we optimize the gluing process of our acoustic walls, so the production will be more efficiently and the installation teams have an easier job?

During installation, it often turned out that the felt was not perfectly glued to the foil. When the material stuck out, the wall panel no longer fit properly into the mounting rails. Installers then had to trim it manually, which led to extra labor hours. Clearly, this could be more efficient, so together we searched for the right solution.

Case-Specific challenges .

Aligning the materials

Aligning the two materials precisely, as they need to be glued together.  The exact positioning of both the adhesive and the materials are very important.

Workspace

The partitions are produced by people with a distance to the labor market, so ensuring a safe and pleasant working environment was crucial.

Solutions BIT Hotmelt Technology.

To improve the gluing process, BIT Hotmelt Technology and TIG Acoustic came up with the following solutions:

1. New machine
We developed a complete machine to automatically feed and precisely assemble the materials. Guides ensure exact positioning, so the glue is always applied in the correct place.

2. User-friendly workstation
When designing the machine, safety and ease of use were key considerations. With insulation covers, the heated elements are safely shielded, and the machine’s open structure ensures easy and safe access everywhere.

Our achievements.

  • Faster, lighter and more precise production process
  • Shorter installation time on site

"So… And then the guys from BIT arrived… During our development processes for new products – in the field of acoustics – we collaborated with many companies, naturally with varying degrees of success. After our initial introductions and a cup of coffee, we felt we might have found a company that truly understands what we mean! A team with technical expertise, inventiveness, and a strong work ethic! Could it really be?

During the development and brainstorming process, this was confirmed. Sharp technical ingenuity, excellent coordination, clear communication, and adhering to agreements have resulted in a system that has ushered in a new phase in the development of our product and our company. This approach has also led us to hope for the next step in automating our production.

In short: Thank you for the collaboration thus far, and on to the next phase!"
